Targa Telematics Spa — one of the world’s leading players in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT) and in the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility — is pleased to announce the appointment of Tiago Elias as Country Manager of TRACKiT, a Viasat Group company. In parallel, he will continue as Country Manager of Targa Telematics in Portugal.
The appointment is the result of the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Viasat Group Spa by Targa Telematics Spa, concluded on May 16, 2023, which marks the birth of one of the main global players in IoT and the development of digital solutions and services for connected mobility. Targa Telematics will thereby strengthen its leadership, not only in the Italian market, where it originated, but also in European countries where it is present and growing, such as Portugal, Spain, France and the United Kingdom, by providing a wide range of innovative technological solutions in projects with a global dimension.
Tiago Elias will be responsible for Targa Telematics’ and TRACKiT’s activities in Portugal, driving their development and the implementation of their solutions and technologies in the fields of telematics, smart mobility and IoT platforms. With more than 25 years’ experience in different sectors of activity, Tiago has worked for companies such as ID Logistics, Dachser, Farmavenix, Vitacress and Avis. He has been Country Manager of Targa Telematics since the company arrived in Portugal in 2020.
He holds a degree in Business Management from Universidade Lusíada of Lisbon, a postgraduate degree in Marketing from Universidade Independente and is also a guest lecturer at the Escola Superior de Ciências Empresariais of the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal.
Tiago Elias, Country Manager for Targa Telematics and TRACKiT in Portugal, comments: “I’m delighted to take on this new responsibility and to join the management team of a group that has a purpose, is innovative and is committed to continuous growth. Our main goal is to harness and leverage synergies between the two companies and make Targa Telematics the European leader in cutting-edge telematics solutions. Together, we will design the future of connected mobility.”
For his part, Nicola de Mattia, CEO of Targa Telematics, noted that: “Over the next five years we want to consolidate the presence of our solutions in a sector as disruptive as mobility. I’m convinced that Tiago’s experience, vision and knowledge of the sector make him the right person to lead the new phase of growth and development of both companies in Portugal towards the fulfilment of our goal: to make Targa Telematics the European leader in smart mobility solutions.”
