- Part of its ongoing technological evolution, the migration to Equinix’s FR4 and ML5 data centers underpins the company’s international expansion.
- Sustainability, operational continuity and security are central to Targa Telematics’ strategy, which also benefits from end-to-end support from Gruppo Zenit.
Targa Telematics, one of the world’s leading players in AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) for the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility, announces the migration of its infrastructure to the data centers operated by Equinix, a leading global digital infrastructure company. The move further enhances Targa Telematics’ operational continuity, security and service scalability, while reinforcing the company’s growing commitment to sustainability.
This strategic decision is part of Targa Telematics’ broader technology roadmap, aiming to deliver high performance, greater resilience and long-term investment protection. The new infrastructure, hosted in Equinix’s Milan and Frankfurt (ML5 and FR4) facilities, has been designed to scale in line with business growth, reduce operational risk and ensure consistently high standards of efficiency and reliability over time.
Equinix’s global footprint, spanning 280 data centres across 77 industry sectors and 36 countries, will be a key enabler of Targa Telematics’ international expansion. It will support the company in entering new regions while ensuring compliance with increasingly stringent data sovereignty and data residency requirements, which are becoming increasingly widespread worldwide.
A shared commitment to certified sustainability
Central to Targa Telematics’ decision was a shared commitment to sustainability. Equinix is one of the most advanced data center companies in terms of energy efficiency and emissions reduction, supported by continuous global investment in innovative technologies to optimise consumption, increase the use of renewable energy and implement heat recovery and reuse projects. This commitment is further reinforced by Equinix’s internationally recognised sustainability certifications, including ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, as well as external recognitions, such as inclusion in the CDP Climate Change A-List and, since 2025, the EcoVadis Gold medal.
For Targa Telematics, choosing Equinix represents a tangible way to accelerate and maintain the achievement of its ESG objectives, while also gaining access to sustainability metrics certified through green power reports that can be integrated into its own sustainability reporting.
Operational continuity, maximum reliability and security
With guaranteed uptime exceeding 99.999%, redundant critical systems and ISO 22301-certified operational processes, Equinix data centers provide Targa Telematics with a resilient, secure infrastructure designed to ensure service continuity, even in complex situations. From a cybersecurity perspective, the security standards offered by Equinix are among the highest in the world, featuring biometric access control systems, 24/7 video surveillance, multi-level security checks and global security and privacy training programs.
“The migration to Equinix represents a strategic step in our international expansion and continuous service improvement. Together with Equinix and Zenith, we are raising our performance, availability and cybersecurity standards, while ensuring that our customers can operate in countries where specific data residency requirements apply,” commented Carlo Stefanelli, CTO of Targa Telematics.
Gruppo Zenit: a strategic partner providing specialist expertise to support infrastructure migration
The migration was delivered with the support of Gruppo Zenit, a Managed Service Provider and long-standing partner of Targa Telematics. Gruppo Zenit contributed to the project from the definition of the target architecture through to migration management and ongoing environment monitoring.
