Targa Telematics strengthens fleet security with agentic AI, achieving 12% reduction in theft

Targa Telematics, one of the world’s leading players in AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) for the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility, announces significant progress in tackling vehicle theft, a persistent problem in the UK. By leveraging Agentic AI technologies capable of operating, fleets equipped with Targa Telematics solutions recorded a 12% reduction in thefts in 2025 compared to 2024.

Analyses from Targa Telematics Observatory show that the adoption of advanced capabilities based on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning makes it possible to predict risky behavior and implement proactive measures, preventing instances of theft before they occur and reducing their incidence, with a significant economic impact for customers.

The Observatory reported a 20% to 30% reduction in theft incidence, resulting in economic benefits of €1.5–2 million per year for medium and large fleets of comparable size. Enhanced scoring models and alert workflows have raised the bar for countering fraud and misappropriation, which particularly affect short- and long-term rental providers.

The implementation of Smart Vehicle Protector, the AI-powered solution built on agentic features that enables theft prediction, has proven instrumental in achieving these results. Thanks to advanced algorithms and behavioral and contextual data analysis, each vehicle benefits from enhanced monitoring and cutting-edge capabilities in correlating events, recognizing complex patterns, and identifying targeted actions. This approach allows Operations Centers to carry out timely preventive measures, streamlining processes and improving decision-making.

Targa Telematics has evolved its technological solutions from traditional AI models – where AI supported Operations Center staff in prioritizing alarms and filtering false-positives – to a new generation of Agentic AI technologies that equip each vehicle with enhanced contextual analysis. Rather than replacing operators, these features amplify their capabilities in evaluating risks, leading to a more effective and scalable monitoring model, with increasingly automated and intelligent security management.

“As the criminal landscape is rapidly evolving, our mission is to deliver solutions that prevent theft and provide our customers with a new layer of security, instead of simply reacting to threats. The application of advanced algorithms to the large volumes of data included in our data lake plays a crucial role in the development and training of increasingly efficient Agentic AI models,” said Massimiliano Balbo di Vinadio – Vice President Sales LA at Targa Telematics. “The new approach we have implemented has allowed us to significantly reduce the economic impact of theft, offering our customers next-generation services that combine security and efficiency through continuous innovation.”
