Targa telematics takes ecodrive innovation to the next level

The integration of EcoDrive into the Trackit platform provides a unified view of performance, consumption, emissions, and driving behavior, supporting faster, more informed decisions.
Key EcoDrive updates
  • Dynamic dashboard with a comprehensive fleet overview
  • Performance, consumption, and emissions monitoring on a single platform
  • Faster decisions based on consolidated, actionable data
  • A tool to support driver training and continuous improvement
  • Greater operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability

Targa Telematics, one of the leading global players in AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) and the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility, has integrated its EcoDrive solution into the Trackit platform, strengthening companies’ ability to monitor and optimize fleet performance.

EcoDrive is Targa Telematics’ solution for analyzing driving behavior and promoting more efficient, safer, and more sustainable driving practices. With this advancement, fleet managers now have an integrated view of operational, environmental, and driver performance indicators on a single platform.

Previously focused on individual analyses and driver-specific reports, EcoDrive has now evolved toward a centralized approach supported by intuitive dashboards and cross-analysis tools. Integration with Trackit eliminates the need to use external systems to access driving performance information, making it easier to obtain strategic data for fleet management.

The new solution makes it possible to track indicators such as the fleet’s average score, performance trends over time, CO₂ emissions per kilometer and by fleet, the distribution of drivers by performance level, overall driving indicators, and key opportunities for improvement.

The main benefits of the new generation of EcoDrive include reduced fuel consumption, less vehicle wear, improved road safety, lower emissions, and greater operational efficiency. The solution also helps reduce vehicle downtime, promoting more efficient use of fleet resources.

In addition to its analytical capabilities, EcoDrive also serves as a training and continuous improvement tool. The solution makes it possible to identify less efficient driving behaviors, support awareness programs, and track each driver’s progress.

Fleet managers also have access to detailed reports that include indicators related to cruise control usage, unnecessary braking, harsh acceleration, idling periods, and the use of vehicle momentum.

The data analyzed by EcoDrive is collected through equipment installed in the vehicle, including accelerometers and other sensors, as well as the vehicle’s own electronic systems. Combining these sources provides a more complete and accurate view of driving behavior and fleet operational efficiency.

Tiago Elias, Country Manager of Targa Telematics Portugal, said: “The new generation of EcoDrive transforms driving data into tangible opportunities for operational improvement. By providing an integrated view of the entire fleet, companies can identify behavior patterns, promote better driving practices, and increase the overall efficiency of their operations. In many cases, average fuel consumption reductions of approximately 3% can be achieved in Iberian transport operations and about 5% in international transport operations. These results depend on the specific characteristics of each operation, driver profiles, and the level of adoption of best driving practices.”

With this advancement, Targa Telematics reinforces its commitment to continuous innovation and to developing solutions that help organizations reduce operating costs, improve safety, and promote more sustainable mobility.

Targa Telematics will have the opportunity to showcase the latest EcoDrive updates at the 25th ANTRAM Congress, where it will have a dedicated space to present this and other solutions for the freight transport sector. The event, which will take place on November 13 and 14 at EPIC Sana Algarve, will bring together carriers, managers, specialists, and partners for two days of reflection, discussion, and knowledge sharing on the present and future of road freight transport in Portugal.
