Targa Telematics Portugal launches Dashcam Live Stream to reduce accidents and enhance safety in the transport and logistics sector

Highlight

Targa Telematics, one of the leading global players in the field of AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) and in the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility, is launching Dashcam Live Stream in Portugal — a new AI-based video solution designed to enhance road safety, reduce accidents, and improve risk management for fleets.

The technology combines real-time video, machine vision, and artificial intelligence to detect risky behaviors and support immediate decision-making on the road, turning video into a true prevention system.

Artificial intelligence that anticipates risk

Dashcam Live Stream integrates advanced technologies, including dual HD cameras, AI, and continuous connectivity, enabling automatic recording of critical events and ongoing driving analysis. Through machine vision and artificial intelligence algorithms, the system identifies risk patterns and issues real-time alerts to drivers in situations such as fatigue or drowsiness, driver distraction, mobile phone use, and speeding.

These alerts allow drivers to correct behaviors as they occur, significantly reducing the likelihood of accidents.

According to 2025 data from Portugal’s National Road Safety Authority, fatigue and drowsiness are among the leading risk factors in road traffic, estimated to account for between 15% and 20% of serious accidents — with even higher percentages for heavy vehicles. These risks are further compounded by speeding, distraction, and mobile phone use — all behaviors that Dashcam Live Stream can detect and address in real time.

From prevention to operational efficiency

Beyond safety, Dashcam Live Stream transforms driving data into actionable insights for companies.

Continuous event analysis enables the identification of risk patterns and the development of data-driven driver coaching and training programs, capable of reducing dangerous driving behaviors by up to 70%.

Reducing accident rates has a direct impact on operations, minimizing vehicle downtime, lowering insurance premiums, and providing digital evidence in the event of an incident.

In a sector where a stationary vehicle can generate daily costs ranging from €400 to €700, prevention plays a crucial role in operational efficiency and business competitiveness.

Technology for a sector under pressure

The logistics sector is currently facing increasing challenges, driven by the growth of e-commerce, more intensive operations, and rising pressure on efficiency and safety.
According to the 2025 CBRE Logistics Confidence Index Portugal, these trends are accelerating the adoption of technological solutions capable of anticipating risks and making operations smarter and safer.

Tiago Elias, Country Manager of Targa Telematics Portugal, commented:
“In a sector where safety and efficiency are critical, companies need technology that can anticipate risks and support real-time decision-making. Dashcam Live Stream represents exactly that: the combination of intelligent video and artificial intelligence to protect drivers, reduce accidents, and make logistics operations safer and more efficient.”
