Highlights
- More than 70% of fleet managers are considering implementing Artificial Intelligence systems.
- This is one of the key findings from the Fleet Management Watch by Targa Telematics, conducted with the support of the Connected Vehicle & Mobility Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano School of Management, based on a Top Thousand and Top Hundred sample — the observatory that brings together managers of the main corporate fleets operating in Italy.
Artificial Intelligence systems are increasingly becoming a central element in fleet management and in the broader dynamics of connected mobility.
This emerges from the Fleet Management Watch by Targa Telematics — a global player in the field of AIoT and in the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility — conducted with the support of the Connected Vehicle & Mobility Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano School of Management.
The Fleet Management Watch by Targa Telematics is an analysis carried out on a sample of key fleet management market players participating in the Top Thousand and Top Hundred observatories, collectively managing nearly 60,000 vehicles across different types of fleets, including corporate, operational, commercial, and service fleets.
According to the study, 73% of the fleet managers surveyed are currently engaged in a concrete evaluation process aimed at implementing AI solutions in fleet management processes, while the remaining 23% completely rule out exploring this possibility in the future.
Among the areas where AI integration is considered most strategic are predictive maintenance systems (38%), followed by anomaly detection (24%), predictive analytics dashboards (19%), and consumption analysis and optimization (14%).
The Polimi research also explored how company vehicle users perceive the benefits of telematics, with 46% of respondents highlighting ease of use, while another 23% emphasized aspects such as operational support and assistance.
“Artificial Intelligence is now the main driver of evolution in fleet management, enabling an increasingly proactive approach focused on anticipating issues and supporting operational decision-making,” commented Michele Cipullo, Go-To-Market Manager at Targa Telematics. “The Observatory data confirms that the market is ready for this leap: this is no longer about experimentation, but a concrete path toward adoption.”
In this context, value lies not only in data collection, but in the ability to interpret it and turn it into operational decisions that improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
